								| The Restaurant SceneBy M.R. Stanton • Photos by Nicole HarnishfegerThe quiet days of winter provided the backdrop to more turnover in the island restaurant scene than I can remember in recent years. From the time you get off the boat at Steamboat Wharf, big changes are evident.
The original Henry’s on Steamboat Wharf is gone. During the winter the husband and wife team of Andrew and Donna Fee, who ran the sandwich and cookie shop there, decided to call it quits. The business started by Andrew’s father Henry a generation ago, which is credited with bringing sub-style sandwiches to the island, became another victim of rising labor costs and sheer exhaustion for a young family.

Andrew has moved on to carpentry while Donna is now in real estate. The Nantucket Cookie Company business they founded is on the market.

Those hungering for an old-fashioned Henry’s sub aren’t out of luck, though. Andrew’s sister, Sydney Fee Barsanti, is keeping the Henry Jr. spot across from Hatch’s on Orange Street and will likely add some of the favorites that were unique to Henry’s Steamboat Wharf location.
